New Beginnings at the Red Clay Adult Education Center

AEC Adult Education Center logo

The 2024-2025 school year brought about many new beginnings for our program.  The first new beginning is the change of our name and adopting a new logo.  For many years, our program has been referred to as "Groves" and while we do have a James H. Groves Adult High School as a part of our school, we offer many more programs such as the GED, Adult Basic Education and the English as a Second Language classes.  To better reflect the entire program, our name was changed to the Red Clay Adult Education Center or AEC.  Because of the new name, we needed a new logo! In the spring of 2024, the students were asked to submit ideas for the logo and I worked with the RCCSD Communications Department to incorporate elements of those student ideas into the new logo you can see to the left of this article.  These necessary changes make our school more inclusive to our mission to educate as many adults as possible.
By changing our name, the old "Groves" website no longer applied to our program, so that, too has recently been changed.  Our new website is redclayschools.com/AEC.  AEC stands for Adult Education Center.  If you go to our old site, it will conveniently redirect you to the new site.
Another new beginning was that we are now located in the A. I. duPont High School Annex.  In the spring of 2024, I was informed we would be able to move to this dedicated space for our program which affords us a dedicated entrance and hallway for our students to have a feel of having their own school environment.  While we are still working on getting settled, we are loving our new "digs" and thankful to find a more permanent home for our school.
Finally, while each school year does bring about its changes, we have had several new staff to join our program.  Some of these changes were because of people going into new roles, but some of them are also an indication of our program growing and progressing.  As you read further in this publication, you will learn more about the new staff who have joined our team.  It has been a pleasure to work with them and train them as they learn the ropes to join our stellar staff.
What isn't new this year?  We still have the same drive and dedication to work with all of our possible resources to deliver the best education possible to our students who fuel the workforce in our great state!  I'm proud of our students and staff with their dedication to this mission. It is my honor and pleasure to lead this school and I look forward to what is to come for the rest of the school year!  The best is yet to come!
